My bro in law was nice enough to give me his HS Precision stock after he upgraded his 700P. I picked up a 700ADL 308 from DSG last year, and am going to swap the stock over.

I have the ADL to BDL conversion stuff, but my question is the HS Precision stock already bedded for my BIL's receiver? Can I just drop in my rifle and have a decent enough fit to expect good-great accuracy?

To summarize, can I drop my rifled action/reciver into an HS Precision stock that's already been bedded for a specific action (same caliber) without expecting it hurt accuracy as compared to the original action it was bedded with? The recoil lugs seemed to be slightly different in size.

Unless he modified the stock, then it has not been 'bedded' to his gun. Simply drop your action in, insert the bottom metal and tighten the 3 action screws.

There would have been no reason for him to have put any bedding compound in that stock. If he did it is not terribly hard to remove. A bit time consuming, but not that hard.

If your gun fits in the stock shoot it first before doing anything. If it won't fit you'll need to remove any material he may have put in there.

I don't think he put anything into it himself, but there is a black compound laid over the aluminum bedding block. I don't have any pictures now, but the action fits into the stock though it's a little tight. I finally got the BDL front screw that I needed so this weekend I'll install the new stock and try it out.

Yup, and its ok to do, but you may want to bed it to your action. I'd remove it, and try without skim bedding.
