well got a new wesson rifle with a bad stock, bug ate wood and the glue and sawdust patch falling out.
Decided to try the new Loc-tite GEL epoxy to see if it worked any better and it did ...did not sink back after clamping and no fill was needed.
It sanded and finished real good too and had none come loose or anything.
Ended up with a decent repair to the bug ate wood. 5 inch splice in place.

stained darker to help hide the splice better

please tell me what you think of the repair ... Juss an ole' cripple here
and did the best I could. not kidding...

I really can't see any splice in the first photo.
Just the stock routed out to accept it.

I really can't see the splice in the second photo either, because the bottom of the stock where it was repaired is in full dark shadow.

I'm sure it came out very nice though.

NO SAME LIGHT just stained dark as all get out to hide the grain.
least it is smooth now.

Looks like you did a good job. So long as you got the graft glued in well and it puts an old shooter back in the game... it is okay by me. Many times stock repairs are hard to hide in some situations. Looks like you got it.

shame was it is a near new custom gum.
Gunsmith used glue n sawdust to fill a section that fell out.
wood was worse than that ... bug ate walnut used.
shame
