These emails I get from every distributor under the sun... they're causing me to buy things I'll probably never use.

It was an email from Palmetto State Armory for the new Stoeger STR-9 compact that got me this time. I liked the way they look and for $269, I figured why not... I'll take two.

Not knowing a thing about them and being as new to the market as they are (no IWB kydex holsters yet), but I'll ask anyway. Does anyone here have any experience with the compact model of the STR-9?

None here but I think I saw a post here awhile back and some didn't like the trigger. Made me shy away.

That's the same reason I never bought the full-size STR-9. Well, that and a couple comments about the handle being on the thick side. I noticed the grip is different on the compact model but I don't think I'll be lucky enough for a trigger upgrade. I'll see what I can do to smooth that out if needed.

I guess I'll do a brief review of them when I get the chance to try them out.

Put your money into something better. There's so many choices to not waste it on a sub par gun. Unless your loaded.LOL

I probably have a couple dozen firearms that are in the same genre (size, caliber, weight), so it wouldn't be something I plan on carrying. A G19 and P365 fill that role most of the time. Though it doesn't mean it wouldn't make it into some form of rotation, even it only briefly.

I've found these inexpensive Turkish-made firearms are typically of spectacular value when they first hit the US market, before "gaining traction" and prices increase. I was so impressed with my first Canik, I bought a couple more. Then I discovered Sarsilmaz and ended up with a couple SAR9s. Here I bought two STR9 compacts without even handling one. It's an illness I think. Now I'm looking Turkish shotguns as well

I'll probably be on an episode of Hoarders someday, but it will be a kickass episode with only knives, firearms, ammunition and reloading components as the hoarded items. I'm certain it would be an episode you'll want to DVR.

I don't have a DVR but have a blast. My dilemma is trying to find a kel Tec Sub 2000. None anywhere except Gunbroker, not bidding on a gun. I have two Springfields and one Glock so happy with what I have.

Sub par garbage? Where does that come from? I have shot one a number of times, and the gun was excellent quality and shot great! Nice flat shooter and good build quality. Stoger makes some very nice products, owned by Beretta. In fact you can see a lot of the Beretta APX in this gun. Some could say do not invest in a subpar Kel-tec. (I would not say that either)
That said, you could put a little more money and get the Apx for around $329 which is a really nice firearm and so well built. But for $269, It would be a good choice if I were looking for a budget gun.

I've heard good things, and have handled a few. Have not shot any yet. Feels good in the hand, they seem to be if a Glock and an M&P had a romantic night together, this would be the result. Pretty sure they will fit G19 holsters. For the money, they seem a pretty good deal. Stoger hit the market at the exact right time with these. Developed to compete in a soft (pre pandemic) market they're a low cost, high value ubiquitous striker fired polymer frame 9mm handgun. Surprised no one has made that a designation yet...
