I am thinking of building an AR and was wondering if there is much of a difference between these two. The Stoner kit does come with a 1/9 twist barrel, which I prefer, while PSA's is the 1/7. Cost seems to be pretty much the same.

Your thoughts please...

I think PSA is better in general. Only because I have heard more negative stories about Stoner than PSA and I know of far more people who own PSA products.

PSA BCGs are regraded highly for a budget BCG and I use one in my most recent 5.56 build and it shot great. Granted this was the only PSA part I used in the build since I found a Bushmaster A2 upper minus bolt for a good deal.

PSA is more popular from what I see and also more likely to be out of stock.

Another option is Del-ton. They have been around longer than PSA.

Have both brands, (20",18" fluted, 16") no big differences for my (IPC) informal plinking championship between friends.

Thanks for the input Gents.
Guess it's looking like the PSA kits are the most popular/best of the two.
I kind of figured that would be the result but I have been wrong before.

I've had a hankerin' for an A2ish rifle configuration AR so went ahead and ordered the PSA kit. Got an Ozark Arms carrying handle coming too. What the heck, it's coming up on my birthday... ;)
Guess I'd better get down to the gun shop in Eudora and pick up a lower for it soon.

PSA seems to be the best value for what you get. I have mainly PSA frankenrifle that runs like a top. I have a relative that has a bunch of their stuff and has had zero complaints.

I really like PSA. Two complete uppers, one complete lower, one lower kit, zero complaints. The specs are great, assembly done right, and finish is a step above what’s expected from a value seller. Toolcraft bcgs are now my default choice thanks to PSA. I was just today looking over parts for another lower build.

Sure PSA is out of stock on lots of items but with so many similar items are available it's hard to get too attached to what’s out of stock. They have sent me notifications on several occasions when items were re-stocked and I ordered quickly.

Gratuitous shot of PSA upper/Anderson lower, and PSA upper/lower. Also bundled my pistol brace and SPARC red dot with them.

Somebody in an arf.com thread I was reading said PSA BCG is made by FN. This isn't true is it, I was under the impression PSA bolts were made by Toolcraft and that they made bolts for most companies, including FN, correct?

(EDIT to add: I'm aware that FN makes bbls for PSA, I read that the bolts were made by FN too, which I dont think is the case)

A sampling from PSA’s website. Both PSA uppers I have purchased specified Toolcraft for the BCG.

I’ve got a bunch of PSA stuff and have never been disappointed. Their nitride barrels are very accurate. My nitride 7.62x39 barrel is sub moa with hand loads, just slightly over with Wolf steel case.

Thanks for all the further input Guys.
Picked up an Anderson lower at the "local" gun shop today and the PSA stuff has been shipped and on the way. Looking forward to putting it all together soon.
:)
I'm in the same boat. Picked up a anderson lower last week and am tracking my PSA order. I placed my order Friday and by Saturday they were out of stock on that item and now it's back in stock for $50 more so I'm glad I ordered when I did. Good luck on your build....

PSA has its haters but FWIW the guy from BFLV uses PSA pistol uppers on his firing line and he indicated that the PSA's were keeping up with the best of them. Order with confidence. If there is an issue they will sort it out...
