I'm looking at a Glock 17, and trying to figure out approximately when it was manufactured. It does not have an accessory rail and has texturing on the front of the trigger guard. This has me thinking it's a Gen 2. I looked at https://www.okshooters.com/threads/glock-serial-number-chart-for-date-of-mfg.285095/ for the meaning of the letters in the serial number; they are AZE. I understand that the first letter is for the month, so December. The second letter doesn't make sense because there is no Z in the reference guide.

Anyone have any ideas on when this thing was made?

I believe the barrel date stuff went out when Glock ran out of two letter date codes in '92.
Making WAY too many guns to keep fooling with that.
Most all of the 'A' three letter guns were made in late '92 thru 1994 with the exception of some
'commerative' guns with the 'A' three letter prefix guns that were sold as late as 1996.
