Stuff I heard at the Gun Show this Weekend

Last gunshow I was at Randy Weaver (of Ruby Ridge) was the guest speaker. Later at the show I saw a Remington 870 clearly marked "express" on the reciever, but labeled as a Police Model priced at $400. I informed the vendor that that gun was not a police model, and he told me that that is the only self defense type shotgun reminton makes, and that I should buy his express before they are made illegal.

Good deals are hard to find at a gun show. Whenever there is a gun show in Knoxville, Guns N' More (my favorite gun shop) lowers all of their prices, both at their booth at the show and at their store! It is their fair prices and their awesome selection and the fact that their walls are lined with "evil" black rifles of all kinds that I keep coming back.

I am in no way affiliated with Guns N' More of Knoxville, TN, just a satisfied customer.

In Arizona the big Crossroads gunshows are good because the out of town dealers show up, like J&G from Prescott. They've got both good gun and ammo deals and while I love riding my scooter up to Prescott, when I buy ammo I need more carrying capacity than my bike offers. I buy ammo at darn near every other gunshow. I also buy, sell and trade guns at the shows too.

Also, the Arizona Arms shows (there's one this weekend in Mesa) are good because they don't let most of the flea market and beef jerky types have tables.

Good thing he didn't try to claim it was Goering's because I have Goering's Luger at home in my desk drawer. It's a mismatched nickle plated ...

You lie, I have Goering's Luger, it’s not nickel it’s brushed chrome and the numbers match. Hang on I’ll get it out of the glove box and take some pics…..

Preposterous! Next you will no doubt be claiming the little eagle on the side of the receiver is not Goering's personal property mark.

BluesBear,

i was at the Puyallup show last weekend too. i saw that gun you're talking about. nice, but not my thing. did you happen across Tactical Ted in the other building that was selling the EXTREME SHOCK! ammo? he had a half dozen guys all gathered around him while he was espousing the benefits of the EXTREME SHOCK! ammo. HOWEVER, according to him, you don't want to load more than four rounds of this stuff in your gun because if it takes you more than four rounds to hit the bad guy with the EXTREME SHOCK! ammo, he's probably taken cover by then and you'll need some hardball to penetrate his cover and kill him because the EXTREME SHOCK! ammo is only designed to penetrate flesh and not hard barriers. BUT if you hit him with the EXTREME SHOCK! ammo they'll be nothing left. this was the same guy sellng used glock 10 round mags for $39.95. you couldn't miss him.

Don't forget Quigley's Shiloh Sharps 45-110.

Don't forget Tom Selleck's (Quigley Down Under) Shiloh Sharps 45-110. :)

I met a gentleman, his wife and his sister, all of whom carried Full-sized Kimber 45s.
Why? <ducking> For spare parts? :neener:

Bobarino, yeah I saw him. He's at EVERY show. He even has Extreme Shockâ„¢ Shotgun Slugs which I can't even find on their website.
He also has a lot of Mag-Safe and Glaser although I've never seen him sell any of it. It's always in the same position, in the same display case. He has a small fortune tied up in exotic ammo. But he won't push any of it on you. He usually won't even mention it unless you ask him about it.

In his defense though he also carries a wide variety of all brands of hollow point handgun and home defense shotgun and rifle ammo.
His prices are a little high but he has a fantastic selection. He has been known to deal. In 2001 I bought all of the 12 gauge Quik-Shok slugs he had and he gave me a very good price. (Q-S slugs are just mean! )
I also bought some Triton Quik-Shok .45acp ammo from him back then. In fact, he still has some of that for sale.

He also has the largest display of Surefire lights of any dealer I know.

Actually his advice on not loading more than four round of pre-frag ammo is good. My advice is no more than two in revolvers or three in semi-autos.

And at least he wasn't telling everyone that Fang Face Ny-Triliumâ„¢ bullets will completely pierce an Abrahms tank and still kill everyone in the latrine on the opposite side yet won't go through drywall and kill your baby teething on a Dingo leg. But that's only because th CIA won't let him. ;)

i was offered a universal M1 carbine as "it was used on Iwo Jima"

a swedish cavalry carbine 96 mauser that was threaded for a silencer

I was once offered a set of 'authentic surgical instruments used in a North Vietnamese field hospital in the tunnels of Chu Chi'.

This piqued my interest, working in healthcare and all, until I flipped over some of the instruments and noted they were manufactured in Pakistan in 1987. Clearly, this can only be explained by one of those 'time portals' or 'alternative histories' that one sees in Star Trek and the like.

Hey, how many Lugers did Goering have anyway?

Reminds me of the story of the two museums in Mexico who had the skull of Pancho Villa on display. As you can imagine, this caused quite a dispute.
Medical experts were called in to examine the artifacts, and resolved the mystery. It seems that both skulls were indeed authentic.
One skull was the skull of Pancho Villa as a young man, and the other was the skull of Pancho Villa in his later years.
I know this is true because I heard it from a gun show vendor.

Gun Shows

the reason I go to guns shows is to validate the reason I should own firearms. When I see all the weirdos and nut cases there buying guns, it makes me realize I better have a gun to protect me against all the other people that are buying guns!! :D
