yes, the state statute is very clear.
I guess reading comprehension is lacking in the city council. Any freshman layer should be able to get this ordinance nullified/rejected/overruled/etc. and get paid by the city to do so.

JMHO, of course.

We have similar preemption here in FL. Hasn't stopped the Leftist Orange County Commissioner from trying to enact her own gun control. Fortunately, local officials can be removed by the governor and even prosecuted for this rogue behavior. Here's hoping......though I doubt Rick Scott will try to press that issue right now as he is outgoing due to term limits and trying to unseat Bill Nelson in the Senate.

I remember when I lived in the Bay Area back in the 80s. San Francisco with "Lady Di" as the mayor (Feinstein) banned handguns in the city. They were slapped down by the states Preemption law.

It was about the same time Feinstein was caught carrying a pistol in her purse:what:.

She said that she was the mayor and that she might need it......

It’s amazing how that gets “lost to history”.

Yea like Geraldo Rivera being for gun control and against national conceal carry reciprocity yet his body guard was arrested in Maryland for not having a valid permit in Maryland. That to went away and doesn’t get mentioned

This case will revolve around whether or not the state preemption law covers "accessories" and whether a bump stock is an accessory.

Councilman P.G. Sittenfeld championed the legislation. His office told The Enquirer Thursday in the statement that the city solicitor's office determined firearm "accessories" and "attachments" are not included in the state preemption.

The state law does cover "part of a firearm" and "its components." It may be up to a judge work out the semantics.

Yes, that is the issue as I see it as well, but a stock is as much of a component as a 30 round magazine. If they can't regulate 30, 50 or 100 round magazines, they can't regulate what type of stock I put on my rifle. At least that is my view on it.

The odds are highly likely that they'll get slapped silly in civil court.

I wish I could vote on the Cincinnati city council since I work in the city and have to pay their stupid 2.1% income tax, but I live out in the country.

At least I feel better knowing some of the money I gave to the Buckeye Firearms Association is getting put to good use. I was starting to wonder about them when they endorsed Mike DeWine....

As others mentioned about this being "lost", it is also an excellent example of their attitude of "For me but not for thee."

I don't live in the city limits either, but I have family across town and travel through the city frequently. Imagine that if I was to head over to my brothers to shoot and had a bump stock (which I don't and have no interest in), I would be guilty of a 1st degree misdemeanor to stop in the city and have lunch before heading to my brothers. That is the exact silliness than state Preemption was supposed to stop.

Hopefully it's successfully shot down. I just read this morning that Columbus enacted similar laws.
