Stupid question of the week: Hornady custom dies: what's the spring clip near the die opening for?

I have a few sets of these dies (haven't used them) and I'm too lazy to read the manual. What's the spring around the opening of the die for?

Gee thanks. What a swell guy. If you don't want to help, why bother responding? Just to be holier-than-thou? I said up front that it was a stupid question. Feel free to avoid responding to my posts.

You don't understand. I never said it was or wasn't a dumb question.

It addresses your laziness. You can read it from a post on the forum or you can read it from the instructions. There is no difference except for who is putting in the work to get the answer. You should invest your time because it's your question. And you even know where to find the answer, the instructions, but you're too lazy to put in that small bit of effort.

It means that you think your time is more valuable than the time of other people on the forum. They have to invest their time to answer a question while you do nothing. Our time is valuable too, and asking us to do something you can do, but won't because you're lazy, is insulting. If you're a functioning adult, read the instructions and save your questions for forum members when it really matters.

I'm contributing my time to raise your awareness to the implications of what your request entails on the part of forum members. Ask yourself this: do you really want other people to invest their time just because you're lazy?

Holy crap. How much less time would it have taken you to say "it holds in the alignment sleeve." You have now invested quite a bit of time justifying your sanctimony. Would you like a refund for the valuable time you've wasted? Maybe you can be the forum curmudgeon who either allows or disallows a question because it's possible to be answered elsewhere.
You know what you can do with your $.02
