suggest an owb

Who makes your favorite owb holster? I've tried some paddles in the past and hated them, they were like having an elbow rest hanging out from my body. I'd like something that conceals really well. Have you found there is a difference between designs with belt slots cut into the leather versus snap on loops? Snaps would be more convenient but I'm thinking loops might be best.

From what I've experienced, belt slots hold the holster closest to the body. The most comfortable holster I have so far would be the Milt Sparks 60TK, which is a high ride OWB holster with belt slots. Very comfortable and easy to conceal a fullsize 1911 because it rides so close and high to the body.

I like IWB better, but some very nice OWBs are the Dillon Leather by Mitch Rosen (or the Mitch Rosen "Express", same thing) line, and the Galco Concealable. The latter holster has a little more cant or rake and takes some getting used to for the draw, but this is a little more concealable, as the name implies.

What gun?

For what gun are you in need of a holster? Mostly I agree on the Galco Concelable. Prior to my Glock 19 it was my most favorite OWB holster. I have it for 1911 and Ruger SP101 revolver and it's awesome. Holds the gun tight against the body. The Concelable for the G19 seems to point the the top of the slide outward making it hard to conceal and I'm always banging it with my elbow. I have a Comp-Tac paddle for an M&P9 that's not too hateful also.

For ultimate concealability I like a Milt Sparks VMII but that is IWB so.....not applicable.

Agreed. They are OK for the range, but I dislike them for concealed carry. They space the gun out too far from my body.

Mitch Rosen makes excellent holsters...the express line is great...and cheaper

For a small gun and a cheaper holster the Don Hume JIT slide works well. It has one belt loop behind the gun (as in directly, against your body "behind") and another behind the gun (as in toward 4o'clock if you're wearing it right handed at 3o'clock.)

I like it because it's so small (like my gun) and that may not apply to you. I'd imagine sticking a 1911 in it (if they even mold it for a 1911) would suck.

The good ones I have are from Milt Sparks, Desantis and FIST. Stay far away from anything Crossbreed.

I use a Galco Concealable.

The position of the belt slots draw the gun in close to the body, and the rake shortens the profile a bit. I like it.

The big things to look for are the positions of the belt slots. I like slots rather than loops or tunnels, but either way, make sure it has at least two and one of them is aft of the gun. It pulls the butt closer to your side and is more concealable, whatever holster you get.

I've used Bianchi Minimalists and Black Widow's with great results. They're readily available and only 30-40 bucks usually. They both use belt slots.
