Suggestions for a light-weight shotgun?

For trap shooting a 28gage and a 410gage leave much to be desired in terms of effective range limitations. A 20gage is a better compromise if your girlfriend has a hard time dealing with the weight of your 12 gage.

Eek, just re-looked up the price on the Affinity and it's actually MSRP for $850. My bad. Gunwatcher has a few going for just under $600.
They do have a 20 gauge that is 26 inch (O.A.L. 47.25 inches) and 5.6 pounds.

There's a compact model for $50 more that is 5.5 pounds, 24 inches (about 44 O.A.L.).
You must have been thinking of the Stoeger version.

A 28 leaves nothing in terms of range. It uses a 3/4 oz payload, while International uses a 7/8. Use a M or IM choke and you're good to go. I shot my best round of trap with a 28 ga Remington 1100 and a skeet choke.

Another "they don't make 'em anymore," but in my experience the Beretta 20-gauge 390 works great for females and other smaller shooters. The indented part you see at the butt end is a removable spacer that shortens the LOP. Take that out and add a Gel-Tek pad and you've got a great package for a small-statured recoil-sensitive shooter.

It's a great gun, and I can't imagine why they discontinued it. Keep scouring the auction sites -- you might get lucky.
