I'm seriously thinking about buying a 40 pound keg of pistol powder very cheap and selling a lot of it locally.
What could I use for 1 lb containers?

Also, what is an OEM powder?

Thanks......

I've heard the Nalgene containers in pint (and quart) size are suitable. IIRC Brownell's/Sinclair sells them... they are transparent/trnslucent, however, so it's a good idea to keep them out of light until needed.

ETA: the Nalgene item number for the pint bottles is 73028; the quart-size ones, 73029 FYI.

Check for local ordinances before you buy the keg. Civil servants think they get a say in everything. And it'd have to be very cheap to make it worthwhile.
Nalgene containers are made for water and start at about $9 each for a 16 fl. oz. bottle.

Also, what is an OEM powder?

OEM - original equipment manufacturer

Usually refers to stuff that you & I can't get - the mfg only sells in huge quantities.
Like the big ammo conglomerates buy millions of pounds of powder mixed just for them.

In computers, OEM stuff has no tech support.
If you buy a retail version of Windows, then Microsoft has to provide support.
Dell buys it OEM, meaning they have to provide that support, not Microsoft.

I hope this helps.

I'm not sure if it'd be a better idea to use 16oz or 32oz containers. Most OEM 1lb powder containers seem to be about 24oz but there's always some empty space in them. I think in most cases the 16oz containers would work but that would depend entirely upon how dense the powder is and whether or not there's a reason the powder companies leave some empty space in the containers.

Look at the bottom of just about any original powder container - HDPE.

Uline probably has them.

"Pistol powder" covers a pretty large spectrum. Any idea what it is that you'll be selling?

The other thing would be having enough locally available reloaders that WANT to buy it. For now the usual suspects have a lot more in stock every day it seems. Then your liability issues are a concern. I believe the OEM containers are static guard HDPE. I would go with the paint cans with a lawyer proof label were it me. JMHO:scrutiny:
