i had been a died in the wool surefire guy till my buddy showed me his M6. i have a 9p and a G2 and was looking to buy another G2 as a purse light for the new wife and as an upgrade to her mini mag as her glovebox light.

as i see it cost is about the same

G2 is single focus beam at 65 lumens upgradeable to 125
M6 is focusable beam with bevel so it wont roll and 108 lumens

same batteries, almost same size

aluminum body for M6 vs hard impact plastic

anybody else have one, any bad word to say about this pelican light ?

Hello ElToro, I am a SF, Streamlight and Pelican dealer. First off, the Pelican light is a very good torch for the money. I didn't care for its weight, focus beam and size. I also do not believe that it puts out 108 Lumens. I would personally stick with the G2, it is the best bang for the buck IMHO...

I have both stay with the Surefire G2. Quick story, one evening I went for an hour walk with the dogs. I threw my Pelican M6 in my side pocket of jeans. About 20 minutes later my leg started to itch, 20 minutes after that my leg started to burn. The M6 had turned on in my pocket and got so hot that it was hot to the touch. No real damage just some redness. I don't carry it any more. The M6 stays in a closet as a backup to my G2 and E2.

I have both a SF 6Z and a Pelican M-6. When I need absolute reliability I go to the SF. When I just need some handy intense light I use the Pelican. Otherwise I'm already carrying a SLX-20 or Ultra Stinger. Reason being the SF has never had a problem and has always worked.
The Pelican is just as tough and puts out just as much light, but the tailcap switch needs refining. It's stiff, needs excessive pressure to activate and does not always turn off immediately after releasing the switch.

Don't Forget Streamlight!

You should really check out the Streamlight TL-2, NF-2, and the Scorpion. These are all 2 cell Lithium 123 tactical flashlights like the Surefire. Remember with the P-61 lamp assembly you will get a whopping 20 minutes of run time, and a new bulb will cost you $25.00!

Did you read the previous post where the Pelican M6 turned itself on in Sharpdog's pocket? Well, with the Streamlights the on button is recessed in the tailcap, making an accidental discharge highly unlikely.

The Streanlight have gotten good reviews, come with 2 batteries, and extra bulb in the tailcap, and can be had for as little as $40 (for the TL-2 non LED version).
