I own a FN SCAR and have added a bipod, Trijicon ACOG 4x scope, upgraded BOBRO mount, Geissele Super SCAR trigger and am considering a suppressor.
A friend said 'It's not complete without a light for CQC" I replied that I have other guns for that purpose should the need arise. He replied that's it's not a completed rifle without a light
and that it should be a SureFire
LOL I said, Great! Christmas is around the corner and you can put one in my stocking.
My gun, my choice I get that. What are you thoughts on should this rifle command a light or is it just fine as is. My thought is I can but that cash towards a new AR I'm planning on buying.

Do you need a light on that rifle? I'm a big believer in weapon mounted lights and have a bunch of `em but they're not on everything. Not on hunting rifles or guns I don't envision using for defensive/varmint control purposes.

I’d say you‘re a sharp guy. Let us know what kind of friend he is, next month.

I have lights I put on things when I need them but I generally try and not haul around as much stuff as I can. That’s what I have a truck for. Surefire makes good lights but they are not the only mfg that does.

If I feel that I might need a light, I generally grab something with a thermal on it. Let’s me see just fine in the dark, without alerting anything that can see, to my presence, much less specific location.

In my opinion every rifle that has the purpose of being a defensive/fighting rifle should have a light. If your gun is just a range toy I wouldn’t bother, but if you plan to train with the gun or plan to use it in a defensive capacity I would recommend putting a good light on it.

Another thing - modern rifle lights aren’t just for CQB. A lot of them are powerful enough to give you good target ID at 100 yards or further. For a top of the line light (you are shooting a SCAR after all) take a look at Cloud Defensive. I also like Arisaka lights which are built on the same footprint as Surefire Scout lights so they can use all of the same switches and mounts.
