I recently took my SW 627 PC to the range, and it performed quite well, except that I did have one dud which seemed strange at the time, since it was good ammo.

Lately, I have noticed the hammer strike as getting lighter, particularly on double action pulls, and also significant hammer bounce / vibration during dry-fire strikes. I'm now not too confident in my hammer striking the primer hard enough. I've heard that this can sometimes be a problem with firearms that have their trigger pull tweaked too much...but I've heard this in rumor only.

Any ideas? I'm thinking (hoping) something has loosened up over time.

Make sure the mainspring strain screw is all the way in. Many people back off on this screw to improve double action pull thereby opening the door for poor ignition.

Interesting. I have not done anything with this weapon aside from changing grips and one range outing. I know the Performance Center does some tweaking of their own...which may be where the problem lies.

I will check it out...thanks gents.

Update:

Stopped by my gunsmith (he usually checks stuff for free for me) and he confirmed that the screw was loose. There is more resistance now to the trigger pull, but the hammer snaps stronger without any vibration.

Thanks.
