Does anyone here have an SW99 compact or full size and have real-world experience with either?

(Walther snobs, please refrain)

I'd like to get an SW99 compact in 9mm in the next few months. I like the size of the Glock 26, but would rather have the double action of the SW99 and the quick reset on the single action follow-up shots. It's probably not a good idea to stuff a Glock in the waist band of pants without a holster.

It appears that the SW99 compact should conceal well due to its rounded contours.

I hear Gun Tests gave the SW99 compact a not-so-glowing review, but I would like to hear from people who have had one for a few months.

We had a .40 for a short bit and I found it was the easiest gun to limp wrist that I have ever shot. I do not limp wrist guns and I could should this one without causing a malfunction but if I was off of my game just a bit or I intentionally limpwristed it would malf. every time.

I realize you could train yourself to make sure you always have a rock solid hold on it but in a real world definsive situation you never know how you will be shooting, left handed, upside down, sideways etc. and I want all of our defensive arms to function in those situations.

The little SW99 did not so we no longer own it. It did seem much more accurate than a Glock 27 and a tad bit easier to conceal but if I were you I would get a Glock 26.

DISCLAIMER I am not a Glock nut, I don't even currently own a Glock but they are a better weapon and direct competition to the SW99. I also like the Springfield XD HS whatever 9mm sub compact.

Good luck.

Chris

I'm very satisfied with my SW99 Compact .40. Still putting it through it's paces (only fired about 200 rounds so far), but performance has been sterling. I'll pribably get a full-size before much longer.

Over at the Smith and Wesson forum the SW99Compact has a lot of supporters.
Those that have them like them.

From the Walther forum I have read that the Walther version is due out next year. Who knows when.

The Gun Tests magazine reported failures to feed. Usually that is magazine related, but the whole firearm was rated a Don't Buy based on the one sample tested.
