Got a Serbian m-48 mauser and love it. Now thinking about the Swiss k31.
I have read so much about their accuracy that I am now very interested in getting one. Not much in the way of brass out there though except at Midway and they only have it in Norma.

How is the round for reloading. I read some where on this site that full length resizing is required in order to make them chamber correctly. This is no problem since I do that already.

I just want to know what you guys have in the way of experience in reloading for it and also where there may be more brass available.

Favorite loads anyone?

The K31 likes GP-11 or handloads very close to GP-11. There are some variations between the dies of different makers due to some dimensional changes between the 1911 S-R and the K-31, but I'm not sure what the current status of this is.

Graff & Sons sells brass that's considerably less expensive than the Norma.

k-31's are awesome. I picked up six while the prices were around $80 and am glad I did.

I also got onto one of the Swiss rifles.com group buys and had a 1911 imported. I added one of the Furter adjustable sights and shot the best iron sight group, non apeature, that Ihave ever fired with it using GP 11 ammo.

I did pick up a supply of the Norma brass but have not used any so far.

Yes, Graff sells PRVI brass that is a good deal.

The only trick to loading this cartridge is the very short throat typical in these rifles.

My favorite load is a 168 gr Sierra Match King over 46 gr of Reloader 15. That's definitely NOT a starting load, so work up to it safely!

I also get great accuracy with a milder, and less expensive load of 42.5 gr of R-15 pushing a 150 gr Winchester power point.

There is plenty of GP11 around, it's a match grade surplus round, but difficult to reload.
Prvi is the brass of choice among most K31 reloaders. Check here for loading info.

Check the barrel carefully of any rifle you buy, some of these have been shot a lot, they may look good but have worn barrels. Per specification a new muzzle would measure 7.51mm and shot out at 7.64mm.

For the ultimate in Swiss 7.5X55 shooting the Zfk 55 rifle has a heavy barrel and a three lug bolt.
