Working on building a new bench over the winter months. Current thought is to have each press (Load-Master, Classic Turret, and BreechLock Single) on a ultramount that is itself mounted to a 3/4" piece of Hardwood plywood. The 16" Square piece of Plywood would be mounted to the bench via 4 connections on the t-track. I would be using hardened 1/4-20 hardware to fasten this. The bench itself is braced on doubled 2x6s as well as being fastened to the wall via 2 spots. The top is glued and screwed doubled up 3/4" C3 Red oak plywood. Attached are two quick sketches on the layout that I'm thinking of.

any thoughts or advice on this?
Thank you

I think you will have too much flex if are planning to mount your press/s on the pull out. I do not believe the hardware/construction will be able to resist the forces exerted by this extention and it will lack stability. My two cents. Take it as you may but you have been warned.

@ Oneounceload-
thanks for the pointer....very much the same idea, including the cabinet grade plywood. I shot Rembrandt a PM to ask about it.

@kerreckt-
yes that is what I'm worried about as well. I reefed on the same track with woodworking tools and fences..but it's not the same as the track. I asked Rembrandt about his experience to see how it worked out for him...awaiting a reply.

thanks for the tips

Like it is, it will not hold up to the forces. Maybe add a leg at the end under the press may help but you still want be solid. Any time you have a track (moveable joint) you will have flex and looseness.

Just to make sure...
the T-Track doesn't actually pullout or move. It's secured every 6" (5 per track) with a carriage bolt and nut through the plywood tops. The track is recessed into the plywood top and the presses on their "16 inch sleds" slide into place.
The Presses in use are actually almost over the right two legs

it's when the presses are not in use, I can take them off to keep the bench top open for multiple purposes.

Here is a post I made on castboolits back in 2011. It has a photo of my bench with the tracks. I saw Rembrandts post here on THR and thought it was the answer to my prayers. 2 or 3 years later I'm lovin' it!

I just use t-nuts to secure the presses. Then all you will have is small holes not a slot for everything to fall down into. My bench has several places for mounting presses.

The rails were for thing to be used in shear not tensile.

Excellent, that's what I wanted to hear is that others have tried it with success. I've used the rails before on saw benches for jigs or fences when I'm building stuff. Very much a fan of them and wanted to bring them into the reloading area as well. Besides if I'm wrong, I can always build another bench right..thanks
