"Tactical Ammunition" Brand AR-15 Uppers

Does anyone have experience with these? I've read some very spotty reviews of their ammo, but does anyone have an AR-15 upper they built? Anyone know what kind of components they use?

Never heard of them. Just took a quick look at their website. In the customizable upper section they only offered a 1:9 twist barrel in 5.56 and the only handguard option beyond stock was a drop in UTG rail. Not. very custom. And they use something called a YHM "style" gas block? Either it's a Yankee Hill part or it isn't.

Sounds like they use mid or lower level parts. I think you'd be better off with a product of known origin. A DPMS, Stag, S&W, CMMG or similar is going to give you at least, or likely better,reliability, performance and durability.

Only way to know for sure what kind of parts they use is to call them up and ask. If they hem and haw or don't want to give you specifics, you might be better off spending your money elsewhere.

Well, I don't know anything about them, but if they are "tactical" - it must be quality.

Due to the very high demand for ARs right now all sorts of jacklegs will be advertising their "AR Style Tactical Rifles", with mostly questionable quality.

Let the buyer beware, and let the buyer do research before buying a bottom of the barrel piece of junk.

Thanks for the feedback. I saw a few reviews on GunBroker of people who said they were happy with them, but that's about it. Not a ringing endorsement.

You are better off sticking with a well-known brand whose products are tried and tested. There are plenty to choose from.

OK, so I got an update. "Tactical Ammunition" is Heller Enterprises out of OR. They build their uppers using Blackhole Weaponry barrels (according to the woman who answered the phone), which seem to have decent reviews on here. I just figured I'd update everyone.

Odd. Black Hole Weaponry doesn't list a chromoly barrel on their website. Nor do any of the barrels the offer have a 1:9 twist. Perhaps a second call to BHW to verify they supply these tactical people is in order.
