I look at thousands of cartridge cases each year. I have found that you can find some pretty interesting things if you look very close.
Now if you were never good at picking out different shapes in clouds, you might not see much in this post.
Here’s a cartridge case that was picked up at a Crime Scene.

Here’s the closeup of the primer.

Here’s the closeups of the firing pin strike.

If you haven’t made it out yet, it’s a dog.

A few years ago a ran across one that made me start taking a closer look. This is the one that got me started.

Enjoying that fancy video microscopy rig I see.

Also, that case looks to have been chambered repeatedly. A chambered-once case rim would be cleaner.

And again: which brand pistol do you call that? The FP protrusion looks to be on the short side, with a turned FP.

The Sig case is a once fired case. It was picked up from a concrete surface and may have been stepped on a time or tow in the dark.
From the markings , I would say a Sig or Springfield XD.
Who is that in the second one? His ear is rather far forward.

Where's the dog?
These images are made by the firing pin.
some are a little harder to see then others, but then it also depends on how good you are at the cloud game. :)

Got that, couldn't see the dog/bear at first. Thanks for the highlighting, Odd Job!

I was just curious if it was a picture of Jesus on the firing pin, or maybe an ancient Greek politician or something. I could see the head, just wondering if anyone had him identified yet.

Remember the face of Jesus in the airport tile a few years ago? That was... an interesting one.

I have a family member who is a firearms examiner for the MI state police. I would not be surprised if you and she were in the same classroom together at some point.

I got to visit the gun library there once. It was quite awesome.

As you can tell I spent some time on roadtrips in the car staring at clouds in my youth.

As a whole, i see mr potato head. Looking closer, i see a couple sharing a bucket of popcorn

Explain that one I can’t see it.

Funny what people see, glad I’m not sitting in a shrinks chair looking at ink blots.
