Took a brand new Taurus PT145 Pro .45 acp to the range for its initial firing. It was 28 degrees & sunny. Out of the 10 round clip only 2 Sellier & Bellot 235 grain fmjs fired. It appears the firing pin is giving a shallow punch depth on the unfired rounds. Not sure why this occurred. Maybe sticky factory assembly lube.....any ideas?

Never had a problem like that with my PT145. It could be a lube issue. I would look at the the pin channel for excess lube or grime and remove with the excess with a spray solvent. Is this pistol new?

Did you clean your brand new gun before shooting? New firearms generally come with an application of viscous rust inhibitor that's not a lubricant and may be mistaken for oil. If this isn't removed prior to shooting it could have slowed the firing pin strike or blocked the firing pin chanel enough to prevent proper function, esp. in the cold weather.

Clean and lubricate with a low viscosity product like CLP and see if that doesn't clear up your problems.

235 grain? Sounds either mistaken, or if they are 235 grains this is larger than normal, and you'd want to change with a 230 or 185 grain bullet.

My PT145 I bought new a couple years ago was giving 1 or 2 light strikes out of each magazine. The problem went away after a couple hundred rounds and never reappeared.

most of the preservatives in a factory new handgun will indeed help to prevent rust, but at low temps will tend to turn to a goo like state, like taking a tube of lithium grease and freezing it to 10 degrees, youll see what i mean.

you need to clean clean clean, and lubricate. even the manual tells you to take the gun apart and clean and relube before you fire it.
