Ok, first: I know! I know already! But it looked kinda cute in the picture! So don't beat up on me to bad, ok?

I have a Taurus PT22 that I bought new. Within the first 50 rounds, the firing pin tip broke off. I ordered three new ones and have one good one left after 50 rounds. So, less than 100 rounds broke three firing pins.

No, it's not being dry fired. Yes, everything functions well except it'll break the firing pin within 50 rounds. Yes, the spring is on the firing pin. Yes, it's all clean. No, I did not send it back to Taurus. The pistol was cheap and it's not worth shipping it. (Iknow already!) No, it's not any particular ammo...I used other brands after the first one broke. Yes, I replaced the firing pin spring with a stronger one after the second pin broke to help keep the pin from bottoming out.

Has anybody else experienced or heard of this?
Any aftermarket less brittle firing pins available?

Thanks and keep yer powder dry, Mac

I had one from the 1990s when they first came out until about 2 years ago. After an initial trip to the factory to fix a feeding problem (you didn't have to pay a ton to do next day shipping - this is back when UPS allowed Ground Shipping for a handgun). Never had a firing pin problem. There must be somethinge lse that is causing this in the gun. STrange.
