For the Taurus Tracker .45 Colt, 4 inch barrel ported.

Help, I've tried to mike the cylinder throats and barrel diameter but get different readings...I'm old and can't see as well as I use to.

Has anyone got some honest dimensions of those sizes. I want to use the propper diameter lead cast bullets in this revolver.

Should I use .452 or .454 diameter most accurate results.

Thanks, 44and45

.451 --> .452 will be the correct size.

.454 is the old "pre-war" size.

Good Luck...

Thanks, Joe. I trust you have loaded for this type of revolver before.

Is there any special hand loads that are better suited for it than regular .45 Colt fair.

I had a bit of trouble with the first 10 rounds, gun stopped functioning, cylinder would not close. Did not overload cartridges, nothing exceeded 850 fps and the lowest were about 650 fps. Had good crimp on brass.

Also, did not snap swing cylinder crane out or in closed like a private detective. I say all these things because I was accused of doing them and other things to this gun.

Gun was returned to factory repaired, they seemed to have done an good job in correcting the first problem as it is functioning again.

I'm hoping this problem is behind me with this gun, and look forward to test firing as soon as the weather permits...about 3 or 4 months from now.

I will have to get a sizer die in .452 diameter, all I've got is .454 dia.

Thanks again.

I used to have one in 41 mag. I liked it alot. One thing to remember is that the cylinder is kinda short and can not handle some of the heavier bullets, particularly the heavier Keith bullets. OAL needs to be kept around 1.63" to fit in the cylinder.

I also doubt I would want to feed it the Ruger/TC loads either.

Terry, I've noticed the shorter cylinder and have compensated OAL of my cartridges for it.

Feeding it .452 bullets may help the situation I'm hoping.

I've noticed they make the Tracker in everything from .41 mag to .44 mag, so the .45 Colt should be able to handle non wimpy loads...but nothing +P.

I don't like magnum loads, just the usual gun's designed fair.

Anyone got an extra .452 bullet sizer die they want to sell.

Absolutely, I shot normal 41 mag loads in mine. Recoil was stiff (mine was the Ti model at 28oz) but it handled them fine. 45 = bigger hole = less metal left in the cylinder.
