I know this sort of despicable crime can happen seemingly anywhere nowadays, but it seems horribly fitting that this occurred in Daly-Land:

Girl, 9, Found Stabbed to Death in Chicago Alley

CHICAGO — A 9-year-old girl was found stabbed to death early Tuesday in a Chicago alley.

The Cook County, Ill., medical examiner identified the girl found by her father as Mya Lyons. MyFOX Chicago reported that she had been sexually assaulted.

"We're in mourning right now," Orlando Barnes, the girl's grandfather, told MyFOX Chicago. "We just want to ask that the person or persons that did this heinous crime, 'Come forward and turn yourself in.'"

Mya's father found her unresponsive in the South Side alley early Tuesday morning and took her to Jackson Park Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police had initially said she was 8, but Barnes told MyFOX Chicago that she was 9.

The medical examiner's office is performing an autopsy Tuesday.

The death is under investigation, police said.



Tell me again, Mr. Mayor, how firearms are the biggest threat to your city.

Maybe you and all the others like you should focus your time and energy on the real problem---all of the pieces of human garbage walking our streets preying on the rest of us.

I have a 10 year old daughter. She is never allowed out in our yard by herself.
We live in a nice neighborhood but no place is safe.It only takes a minute for someone to snatch a kid and be gone. I let her watch all of the news stories I see about crimes where children are molested and killed. I want her to understand why it is not safe to play alone in your own yard. It is sad that you can't let your children out of your site even for a moment.

I fully agree with what you'd like to tell Daly.

The weapon used is has little to do with the crime committed. It's like blaming the wrench for a tire/wheel that comes loose and causes a fatal accident. "Wrenches should be registered!" "There should be a 3-day waiting period before we can trust anyone with such a dangerous item." "Anyone buying a wrench should be finger-printed, trained and required to submit to a mental evaluation." "All wrenches should be required to be under lock & key where no one under 21 should be able to have access."

It doesn't take much research to find hundreds of cases where the victim &/or bystanders had plenty of time to neutralize the situation if anyone had a gun on them. It amazes me to read so many stories of witnesses who do nothing while someone is getting stabbed, beaten, shot or clubbed because they don't want to get hurt. GET A GUN!! That way you can stop the incident with either no one or only the perpitrator getting hurt. What a simple concept.

To Daily, guns are a problem because one can't espouse a Liberal-Fascist ideology and give the people the means to defend themselves. The STATE must be the go-to source for all that is needed. Could someone remind the mayor that it was Fascism we fought in all those wars over the past 100 years and that it is disconcerting to see him push Chicago down the same path. Sure, he isn't rounding up Jews and Gypsies for extermination but he's implementing all the other Fascist programs that our former enemies did...social welfare, land use restrictions, universal health care, social security, gun bans, etc. This is exactly the kind of government Hitler and Mussolini had. Does no one see how eerily similar to our former enemies we are becoming?!

My comment would more along the lines of "I just want to ask the person or persons who did this heinous crime 'To run. Run and hide. Run and hide and pray the police find you before me.'"
