Folks here are constantly encouraging others to get into the IDPA thing and I finally did it this past sunday. What an absolute blast!

For my first time, I sucked. I'll probably suck for my second time, too. But it was more fun than I could have imagined and I learned about a hundred things that I need to improve on.

There wasn't any sense of competition, except against yourself, and everyone got a positive word from everyone else. Heck, even when my adj. rear sight decided to dismantle itself, I was encouraged to remove it from the slide and get back in the game. I did and I still sucked.

Can't wait to do it again next month. Anyone in the Greenville area really should stop by the GGC on the second sunday. Fun times for all. Promise.

Congrats on starting IDPA. It is a big rush when you start competing. Especially if there are some really good shooters near you. Have fun and you will see yourself improve a lot.

My very first shot, of my very first string, in my very first stage, of my very first IDPA match nailed a hostage target in the throat. :)

Sure is fun ain't it?

You are hooked. It just gets worse from here. Try an IPSC match for a different flavor. Won't be long until you are eating and breathing this stuff. :D

Vaughn,

Congrats on starting. Pretty soon you'll find yourself shadow practicing a reload.

Otherwise, especially for beginners, make your shots. Taking an extra second to hit a -0 instead of a -3 or flyer saves time overall. And with practice speed will come.

And dryfire daily. It really helps you get better.

Adam

Thanks for the encouragement, guys. I really can't say enough good things about the crew at the GGC that puts this event on. It's definitely worth the money!

Next month, if my slide isn't back in time, I'll be using my 686 to run through. I don't have any idea how that will go, but I HAVE to play again!

ARGH! I hate you man!

I've been wanting to do IDPA for months now and I live in Greenville..... NORTH Carolina! You got me so excited, then I got totally let down :p

I'll live.
