The .22 Konversion Kit - 1858 Remington New Model Army .44

Just joined the forum and have a question. Anyone had any experience with the
the .22 Konversion Kit for the 1858 Remington New Model Army .44 made by Kirst Conversions? It looks like it would be kinda fun to try, but before making the investment I would like to get some feedback from those who may have tried it.

I have a brass frame Pietta New Army .44 my wife got me last Christmas and a Pietta Model 1851 Confederate Navy .44 Caliber Revolver I got myself this Christmas. Couldn't resist that $139.99 price Cabelas had for a while!!

Also have a T/C Hawken .50 cal from the 80's that is a blast to shoot. We have our own range here on 260 acres with 4 generations of our family all living on the property....and all shoot...but I am the only one into black powder. Will post photos later!

Kirst .22 converter

I purchased the Kirst .22 conversion cylinder the first of this month. Kirst's gunsmith told me "the vast majority of the cylinders drop in with no problem". The original cylinder they sent me did not drop in, it was very tight and was binding. It also had a firing pin problem. Kirst had me send it back to their gunsmith and he sent me another that dropped in and works perfectly.

While I had a little difficulty originally, the gunsmiths at Kirst, Jay and Baxter were very helpful and did everything they could to make mine right. I kind of wish their customer service wasn't quite so good and that the .22 wasn't so much fun to shoot, as they now have me considering a .45 conversion.

When are they going to produce one in .32? I would totally buy that!!! :banhead:

Course those .22LR ones look pretty slick too. And fun to plink around with!
