As some know - I sold a regular 92FS a couple of months back because I wanted to get one of the new 92 USA made variants... Some are being built with the straight dustcover M9 frame. It also doesn't have the rear strap indentation.

For heavy usage, I actually prefer the rear indentation. However, I DO like the looks of the straight dustcover better.

Anyway - two gun shows back, I saw these everywhere. So, I sold that 92FS, and then NO ONE had them at the Houston gun shows. Academy does have them, but they are $80 more than the gun show prices.

I found this at a nearby gun shop that gives a 5% LEO discount. So, in the end, itw as just $25 more than the gun show price. And, I don't have to drive 90 min, paid $10 to park and $8 to get in.

So, I am happy.

I am back up to eight 92s again. And, I will soon take a new "Wheel-O-Beretta" photo :)

All have hogue grip panels (not the wrap-arounds) and D springs installed. Three have skeletonized hammers. And the two guns I use for carry have NP3 covered grip screws (that's why the screws are silver)...

Here is the new wheel :)

(I had to space them out a bit more because of the TRL1 on one of them)

Love the Beretta 92, but hate DA/SA operation, so I stopped at one.

But my SAO Beretta Steel-1 is one of my pride and joys!

Well, everyone has their fav guns. Nothing wrong with that.

I prev once owned a Vertec model - I prefer the regular 92 grip. So, I passed on the steel when it was out.

As for DA/SA, that's my preference in concealed carry. I don't like Glock/M&P/XD triggers for a carry gun. I like DA/SA

30-40 years ago, I joined the "Cooper/1911/I-hate-DA autos" crowd. Didn't have much interest in them, even the .45 ones. As time passed, and I got better with my trigger finger, I found that it just didn't matter (to me). Glocks, and other new fangled guns, also had "different" triggers, and as I shot most of them, I learned to adapt. If most all confrontations happen at distances under that which a DA pistol would "throw" the first shot, then maybe I'll need to actually aim at those slightly longer distances to control that first DA shot. However, at across-the-table, real-world distances, my DA/SA groups will still hit mark. Has anyone else lessened their fears over the "DA/SA" quandry? It just doesn't seem like a valid worry anymore, given real shooting distances. You DO have to practice, though, but don't you with EVERY gun type?

Looking at the pics someone should tell Beretta what compact means.

Well, you can only downsize a 92 so much...

Here is a comparison pic... It's about like a USP compact in grip size...

You know what's strange for me, I went to a local Academy to take a look at some of the pistols and held the compact, didn't like the way it felt. Couple of weeks ago they got a fullsize in, held that and I thought it's not too bad. Tried them both side by side and could not stand the way the compact felt. This is coming from a guy with bigger palms and smaller fingers, maybe that has something to do with it. Still admire that wheel photo though, need to make it bigger though haha.

I thought that all 92FS variants had a straight Dust Cover. While the M9 Variants had a curved Dust Cover. I was using that information to compare and contrast the two.

Nope, opposite...

ALL 92s actually had a straight dustcover until about 10 years ago. Then they were all curved. Every once in a while - something like this happens where they make a few using M9 frames (straight dustcover)

M9 ALWAYS was a straight dustcover....
