Sorry for the exclaimative subject, but I found a perfect way of driving home the point of why a person should carry, more specifically, GLBT (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered) people.

The season premiere of Queer as Folk, one of Showtime's original series. Well, the episode had a situation at the very end of it where 3 or 4 toughs single out a gay man who was shopping at night and proceed the beat the crap out of him (or kill him, I'm not sure, I haven't seen the next episode). I had happened to watch the show with fence sitter room mate, not neccesarily anti-gun, but didn't understand why I carried with my WA CPL and have/will have permits from as many states as possible. I basically stated this after he was on the ground and the batterers had left...

"THAT IS THE REASON WHY I CARRY!!"

Drove home the point. He's now interested in getting a WA CPL.

The funny thing is, Pittsburgh, PA is where QAF takes place. I had to shake my head at this scene because it is so easy to get a permit in PA, and cheap too, 19 dollars. I told my roomie this and he basically stated that for so cheap, it was dumb for him not to get a PA LTC and carry on a regular basis.

I carried at Seattle Pride for that reason, you never know if some jackass is going to give you problems downtown or trouble come looking for you.

Maybe. PA state law is one thing, getting Pittsburgh to admit CCW is legal is another. Everyone who can legally qualify for CCW should get one.

I just watched the second episode. The guy who "crashed the party" on "street lightings" and petitions and whistles basically stated what I believe on the issue. However, by the end of the episode, it looked like they were going to do "bashings" on their own, but it was never actually "stated".

Defend your life. Pack heat! :)

Watching TV is actually a pretty good way to jab anti's or fence-sitters. Whenever someone gets in trouble on TV, I just say "You know what she could have used? A .38!"

Doesn't make me alot of friends, but hey, what are you gonna do. :D

PS: Six Feet Under is an amazing show. That and Deadwood are the best things out there. Deadwood season is over, though. Bummer.

Hmmm. "Progressive" shows often portray gay members of the community as victims much in the same as they continue to portray minorities as still suffering from prevalent racist attacks. The bad guys are usually stereotypical redneck bullies. Everyone's got an agenda.
