Got Mr. 10 pointer here in Illinois first firearm season.

Why is he the "deer that listened" ??? After I pulled the trigger he ran 150 yards up hill before he finally dropped about 50 yards from the trail.

Next time instead of "Run to the Truck", I'll yell "Run to the truck, get in and drive to the check station"..... :neener: :neener: :neener:

I was thinking about that sort of thing as I browsed the "deer dragging" thread.

I once hunted with a guy, an older-than-me guy, who only hunted near jeep trails, and wouldn't shoot until the buck was in or very close to the trail. He figured that once you shot, the fun was over and the work began. He didn't want to work any more than he had to...

One of the guys I camp with shot a small buck one year very close to the Jeep trail. The only problem was, the little buck was running away from the trail when he shot it. He watched the deer run completely out of sight and said to himself, "I'm going to have to drag that thing all the way back up here." About that time he heard some more crashing in the woods, and you guessed it. It must have heard him say that, because he came running back toward the jeep and kicked over about 10 feet away from it.

BTW, scout26, I can't get your pic to work.
