The "Dovenator's" Winchester: Truth or over-heated hype?

My mistake, in rereading the article I linked to is not the one you referenced, however, it would seem to be an article based on an interview with the shooter.

My take is that the article you read referenced the record as a matter of reference, rather than a retelling of the record setting event, and as such, a few small details, not important to what that author was trying to convey, were left out.

Almost ALL records seem immpossible/unbreakable, right up to the point they are

I have a respected friend who tried to get me to go with him to Argentina for this mass bird shoot. It's not cheap as the shells are provided and the Govt. salughter permit is out of reach of most locals and has to be with approved guides and crew. Every bit of the usable meat will be eaten; sold at the market or processed or eaten by the large ranches in endless manners . Not my cup of tea but the take was hundreds of birds a day and the 1000 figure talked about alot.

Not gonna call "liar, liar, pants on fire", but my b.s. meter is hovering well in the red.

Seems like a lot, but dove in Argentina are a nuisance and hunters are encouraged to kill as many as possible.

So were passenger pigeons. That didn’t work out too well when people here indiscriminately killed them in absurd numbers like “ the dovinator.” Reading about stuff like that makes me wonder how long it’ll take to wipe those birds out completely down there? :(
