I was recently at Sportsman's Warehouse in Slidell, Louisiana. They gave me a card advertising their gunsmithing service. You can drop off or pick up at any Sportsman's Warehouse location. All work is done at their Gunsmith Center at 1630 S 5070 W, Ste 200, Salt Lake City, UT 84104

Their contact is [email protected] 800-761-1252

I cannot speak to the quality of their gunsmithing work, but the firm seems to me the most 2d Amendment friendly large outdoor chain. I've about given up on Academy or Dick's.

We have one about 75 miles away in WILMINGTON N.C. I'm about 30 miles from Myrtle Beach S.C. but I don't waste my time going down there to Bass pro or Dicks. If I need anything I get it from Sportsman's Warehouse.

Thanks for the info, I had no idea SW offered gunsmith services. Yes, they seem to be one of the most casual, 2A friendly down home retailers these days. I remember when the only one for a long ways around here was in Fife, WA and I was awed when I saw their reloading shelves. Back then (late 80s) the shelves were just plywood and stacked with piles of bullets and powder and cases. Most gun shops would have one or two boxes of a few calibers but SW had a 30 ft long 4 layer shelf stacked with components! That was when I discovered how much cheaper handloading would be for my .44mag and I bought my first press and equipment at Sportsman's. Now I have a SW just 10 minutes away and still enjoy the friendly staff and wide selection and decent prices. I'll have to ask them what service they do. I have some fixed sight guns I would like to be dovetailed and a M29 I want to find a red insert front sight for.

Sportsman's Warehouse is a nice place-I just wish Stu hadn't tried to expand too fast, and imploded it.

Yes, I wish the same thing! We had a SW near me for a couple of years and it was great! But there was an Academy a couple of blocks away, and BP was about 5 miles away and Dicks and Cabellas ten miles away. So SW sold and left. They have much more variety than the other retailers and good prices but I guess the business was cut into too many pieces and they couldn’t make it here.

What I like about Sportsman's Warehouse is that I can order a gun online then pick it up a couple days later at my local SW. I have purchased several guns from SW. Their new gun prices are cheaper than what the LGS wants for same gun in used condition.
