I visited my local gunshop and finally remembered to bring a camera. They were really nice about taking this special Dragoon with a $4000 price tag out of the display case just to let me take a few pictures.
The pictures have been resized several times to give the viewer a variety of perspectives.
About the only thing that was mentioned about this pistol was that it's not a "Colt".

I selected imageshack photo hosting for these pix because they do host them at full size. Click on each picture 3 times to be able to see it at full size and enjoy!

Well, these people claim it IS a Colt. And worth $6750.

Probably one of the Second Generation guns assembled by a Colt contractor from Italian parts, but it may well have passed through Colt's hands. Doesn't make it attractive or worth a lot to me. I know Colt made up some flashy pistols to present to third world foreign potentates who liked the gold, but I'm not one of them.

From what I have learned from my research is the 2nd series Colts used raw forgings from Uberti and all the small parts are made in USA. The 2nd series Colts well "letter" from Colt also.
The 3rd series used Uberti forging and some small parts. They well not "letter" from Colt.
I have seen several dozen different commemorative models, I like some of the engraved and silver inlay, but you can keep the gold. Think of all the shooters you could buy for that kind of money. This is one I would buy if I could reach a price with the seller, we're only $500 apart.
