My custom AR pistol
Spikes lower with a YHM upper, 10.5" barrel, a few accessories and an Aimpoint Pro optic. One of my fun range toys, although wouldn't be a terrible CQB gun if I was ever in CQB, which I doubt will ever happen. Closes thing to a modern SBR we are allowed in California. Oh, and HR Mods, don't have a cow, this gun is NOT an AOW with the VFG, it is perfectly legal per the ATF since it is OAL over 26", not considered an AOW. See the Franklin Armory XO-26 and their ATF letter if in doubt. Google it.

My pistol, dimensionally, is basically the same as yours, with the addition of a shockwave brace. I'll have to study both ATF letters better, but it seems I can add a VFG to mine since its overall length is greater than 26" and still be legal.

Typically, a 10.5" or shorter barrel will NOT get you over 26" OAL, unless your flash hider is permanently attached. Remember, you cannot include this in length if it is removable.

"The ATF procedure for measuring barrel length is to measure from the closed bolt (or breech-face) to the furthermost end of the barrel or permanently attached muzzle device. Permanent methods of attachment include full-fusion gas or electric steel-seam welding, high-temperature (1100°F) silver
soldering, or blind pinning with the pin head welded over."

That looks like a perfect hunting rig. What was your purpose for building it in that configuration?

A .243 AR has been a passing interest of mine for years. I need to move on that.

Looks good, Bushmaster.

Not much of an AR guy but I found this one at the back of the safe, hiding out.

And also found his little brother too, hiding next to him. Custom build with a Spikes lower, Yankee Hill Machine 11" upper, Aimpoint Pro.
