I really like your receiver. Regular ones are ok ... but if you're going to do it, do it with style!

Last year I built a 6.5 Creedmoor on a Spikes 308 Jack receiver set ... sold several that were just taking up space and not getting shot, which allowed me to not cut corners ... I still don't like the pistol grip tho

I will wait for the 806
While you're waiting, I'm shooting.

DPMS Sportical .223/5.56, not the greatest, but goes boom when I pull the trigger. Accuracy is better than I expected, with Hornady V-Max 55gr, it does about 1.5 @ 100yrds. Mostly shoot Tulammo or Wolf steel cased 55 gr, but still shoots pretty good groups up to 100 yrds. This is mostly a HD, coyote and hog gun and will rarely get a shot more than 100, due to the thick growth around here.

Grr I hate you.
After my trip I’m finally going to order my scope.

Then the madness starts again.

Since I have several stripped lowers in a box in my night stand that I picked up on sale, I’m going to have to start another build. I’m just not sure what yet. And your pics only add to the difficulty. Grrr

Gotta love friends and the peer pressure!
Worse gotta hate the infinite choices and possibilities.

Don’t hate the player, just the game.

Here’s the one on the 5.56 pistol. Don’t remember where I got the other.
The AR pistols are growing on me.

Your Holiness, er Dalai, er Gunny, :D

I brought a regular stripped upper 2 or 3 weeks ago which has me reconsidering using my Anderson Slick Side Upper as a pistol instead of a carbine. The Forward Assist clutters up the upper to much for me as a pistol.

Have you considered the Cheek Rest Kit from Thordsen Custom? It seems to me to be the closest legal way to get to a SBR that is practical to shoot. A 10 1/2" barrel and 20 round magazine seems like a practical package. But the reality for me is how much I would really use it.

But, wise leader and guru, what does being practical have to do with it?

I have everything except a pistol length barrel and handguard so it is a short step to build one.

I have never found a need for the check rest on an AR. Now that’s not saying that they are not needed by some, my son likes the Magpul STR stock because it has the check rest. If he gets an AR pistol he might be interested in the cheek rest kit.

I tried a 10.5 barrel on a pistol but found it to long for what I intended to use it for so, I went with the 7.5 barrel.

I went with a 10.5 on my SBR.

Thread hijack alert.

Are there any functioning issues with the 7.5" barrel? I have the impression that 10.5" is needed for reliable functioning. (It will be .223 / 5.56).
No issues with functionality. The shorter barrels have a larger gas port. You just have to be sure that it’s not over gassed. It it is, most of the time a heavier buffer will fix it.
