I wanted to share with you all, who otherwise might not have seen it by not perusing the for sale 'trading post' sub-forums... just how amusing the situation has become to me, sparked by my attempted sale on various firearms boards.
Due to what is an entirely understandable lack of knowledge by non-New Yorker's in regards to the regulations of NYS pistol permits, my for sale thread of a Jennings J-22 pistol from NY has a become a center of some controversy. While actually only a small smattering of confused responses and possibly some at least somewhat inappropriate comments, there is however currently somewhere between 7 and 8 hundred total individual board member views combined spanning various gun boards. The most of which of course come from here at THR and over at TFL.
Those numbers, combined with the fact that the gun is also the same gun pictured on Wikipedia's encyclopedia entry for the J-22 (seen here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jennings_J-22 ) ... it makes me wonder, not that it's a particularly desirable claim to fame ... but do I indeed have the most famous J-22 of all time ?
I thought you all might get a kick out of the possible notion as I do.
Here are the sale threads in question on THR and TFL:
