Proper cleaning and lubing on a regular basis, paired with regularly changing out your magazines as needed. Many people have problems because they think that the magazine has an unlimited lifespan. It does not. If the magazine is worn out, buck up and buy a new one.

I would like to know what part on the AR has the most effect on accuracy and reliability?
First up? Magazine. Secondly? Bolt carrier group - that includes the extractor and the bolt and cam pin and such things.

There is no "one most important part", since nothing will work without the other parts.

For most owners/shooters, a basic AR from a major maker will be perfectly fine and reliable. If you start thinking about using it heavily, or using it for real work (patrol usage for cops, warfare for contractors, defensive use for civvies, etc), you can eliminate most problems by getting a milspec bolt carrier group and using quality mags and ammo. Those are very simple, economical, drop-in upgrades, and get you most of the way to Colt/LMT/whatever performance.

for accuracy-the correct bullet size for your rifles rate of twist and the person behind the trigger.

reliability-combination of extractor upgrade, magazine follower, magazine spring, magazine and the person cleaning and lubing it.
