The new Colt King Cobra

You’re the only one who can answer that really. I’ve got a new Cobra that I paid $660 for (it was tagged $700 but had an almost invisible scratch) that I really like. Great trigger. Bank vault lockup, and shoots surpriseingly well.

Personally I wouldn’t pay the extra for the 357 but I know I’d never shoot 357 in it so why bother? Your needs might be different.

Is this gun worth the $800+ that stores are asking?
IMHO, no.... Colt seems to have problems pricing their firearms correctly. They stopped selling ARs to civilians because most people weren't willing to pay their high prices beyond a few collectors who care about the Colt branding. Likewise, after all the small demographic of hardcore wheel gun aficionados get their initial fill, these to will go stagnant...

Maybe a little on the high side right now since it’s a new model. A S&W Model 66 goes for around $700, so it’s not an outrageous price. It took a year or so for the Cobra’s price to stabilize.

Well....…..the way I see it. You gotta love Colts, then start stuffing them in your cookie box when you're young. Then when the new one comes along most folks predicted wouldn't happen, you grab it. $800 is a relatively low price to pay. A lot of folks would be embarrassed to tell you how much they paid for their Python.

I have seen them priced even higher, more than I'm willing to spend. Since I'm not in any hurry I would wait and see if I could pick up a used one someday. Maybe someone bought it and didn't like it or else they need to make a quick sale for some much needed cash. Whatever the case I would probably go that route.

I think the price is pretty competitive overall. Colt's were always just a little more expensive than the direct competition (excluding Ruger) and Ruger's aren't exactly cheap any more. If I wanted one, I'd pay it. My S&W M63 cost me almost that much. The important thing to me is the gun well made? I suspect it is.

Been having issues with one of my Smith's shaving lead. Going to send it to the factory, and I may trade it towards one of these.

Has anyone seen the four in one's around?
Based on my experience with the 3 inch,I'm saving for one of those.

But what I'd really like is a 5 or 6 inch:
Helloooo Colt...!!!

If it's as smooth and solid like the old Python, Trooper MKIII and the Older King Cobra or any of the snake gun's. It's worth every dime. IMO.

I wouldnt take one over a Speed Six......:D
I, on the other hand, would probably take the Colt King Cobra. Owning a 2.75" Speed Six, which l dearly love. The Colt looks and feels very stout. And has more accuracy for me, and more comfortable natural feeling ergonomics than my Ruger. And the trigger is much better as well, in my opinion.

You're pretty much looking at a chance to buy a new 3" S&W Model 65 without the lock... except it's a Colt. Which is still a quality American brand. When you look at what those guns were selling for 25 years ago and apply inflation, it's really not unreasonable.

The price isn’t that far off of a Smith or a Ruger. It’s more, yes, but they’re also brand new product from a company many have been wanting to get back into the revolver market so the higher price isn’t a surprise. I haven’t handled one yet but the general opinion I’ve been hearing is positive.

Add in the cost of all the ammo you will put through it and the overall cost of shooting a Colt is negligible over, say, a Taurus.

When I help people at the gun store I try to drive that point home. Spend the money! Go with what serves you best.

I have a 2” Cobra and I really like it a lot. I held the 2”, 3” and 4” KC at a store a few weeks back. Both felt and looked great, and of the two I really liked the 4” with the adjustable sights.

Since I have some 3” and 4” .357 revolvers already I didn’t plunk down a deposit, but the thought certainly crossed my mind a time or two when I was there.

Stay safe.

I just found one of the 4" Target models at a show for $1,000. Got a $20 discount for my good looks. I'm still looking for a 3" and a 2" carry without the bobbed hammer as a mate to my 2" Cobra.

Got a whole den of new snakes...out of the box triggers are great. Better than production Ruger’s and S&W revolvers that I have. Yes, worth every penny to me. Very accurate. Very smooth. Svelte is a way of describing the little dandies. Sorta between a Ruger SP101 and a S&W K-Frame in size. Holsters for the former are snug; whereas, holsters for the latter are loose. The perfect packing pistol for trails. Carries easily, balances nicely. Plus I love the elongated trigger guard. I wear gloves a lot and this really worked for me.

My average DA pull runs around 8 lbs +/- and the SA pull runs around 3 lbs +/-.

2017 Cobra In 38+P, 2018 Night Cobra in 38+P and 3” barrel 357 magnum 2019 King Cobra all lined up.

And today, this little bugger slithered into the snake den... 2019 Colt King Cobra Target, 4-1/4” barrel.
