i have just recieved the latest issue of " Combat Handguns" and the new Ruger P95, is one of the articles. Has anyone had any experience with the new style. i have shot P89, P97, and the old P95 but the old 95 felt like a 2x4 in my hand are the new ones like this too, or did ruger trim down the grips? The article tells a little but i would like to have feedback from people with real world use! i would appreciate any info about this particular pistol! Thanks in advance!

Same grip assembly basically, but it has a rounded trigger gaurd, stippling on the grip area and a picatinny rail under the bbl. Otherwise, it's the same.

Its no P345 as far as grip comfort, but its not bad. Good enough for the army! JDGray

I have both, the old P95 and the P345 w/rail. The P345 is slimmer than the P95. I didnt know that a newer version came out.

I'll be happy when/if Ruger starts selling 9mm handguns on the P345 layout. I will be the first in line to pic up one of those. Anyone have any information on this?

blkhawk73,

So if it is pretty much the same, does the revised p95 take the same mags as the old p95? thanks!

Let me guess, still caught up in that 5,000 pistols for the Army rumor? Busted myth, they're going to the Iraqi police and NOT the US Army tank command.

Sweet!
Same magazines and they are inexpensive and easy to come by, 9mm is cheap to shoot, and the pistol it self is inexpensive! i think i might have found the one! thanks again!

Wonder why the IP'S would switch from the glok model 19's, that is they had when i was playing in the sandbox, but the funny thing was that the most rounds I ever saw an IP carry was 3 to 5 and they were fmj!

For whatever it is worth, a P89 was the first 9mm I ever fired (probably the year they came out), and it is the gun under my bed right now. I own 4 other 9mm's and the Ruger is the most reliable of them all. It feels good in the hand and is built like a brick. When you strip it down next to another model, the quality really shows. I would choose it over my Browning BDM any day.

The P90 is the same gun in a .45, and I may get one of those soon.

You'll like the P-90. Mine has become my favorite autoloader. It's very accurate and softer shooting than my 1911.
