The RUGER OLD ARMY Club

I see you got the 10 buck extra Super Handle...lol.. I don't think I like the screw turn better than using body weight and leverage. I would think the vise is almost mandatory....lol.. At least for an old man like me..lol,..
In hind sight i would just make that Super Handle out of wood or pipe or something. I'm eventually going to bolt the loader to my bench where it's more convenient.

Im not sure how you use your old army's but I can tell you it's amazing the difference in feel when the barrel is shortened to 5 1/2 and the loading lever removed.. I have seen accuracy tests out to 25 yards with very little difference in the 7 1/2 barrel. Feels a lot less like a hand cannon...lol.. I have shortened my ROA and my Colt 1860 army and both are way more usable to me.. Just my humble opinion..

I have given some serious thought to shortening one of them.

Cutting, crowning, and brazing on the sight isn't too hard to do if your the work shop type. There are some good Brownells videos on how to do it all.. A gunsmith will probably charge 150 or so... Just guessing.

I’ve owned three. Sold one to my brother in law still have two. Never had an ounce of problems with any of them. And that’s shooting black powder and using conversion cylinders

Anyone ever see a ROA comes in a black plastic Ruger box with a "Special Edition" decal on front/top of the box? Seems like the newer vintages usually came in a gray plastic box.

My pair! Would love to join.

Kevin

What kind of grips are those on the blued ROA? Looks pretty slick with black on black.

Here's one of those black box ROA. Never seen one with a lock before. Maybe this is gray too...lol.

It's surprising the little bit of difference in the fixed sight and the adj. sight version makes such a big difference in its overall appearance. I like the fixed sight one way better. Less boxy looking, more streamlined... Just my humble opinion..

I wise man once told me, "Guns are for buyin (and shootin), not sellin".

Thats some beauties except, No Plastic...lol.. Wood, antler, or bone...:)

I always felt the same. Those white ones were stock Ruger grips on the fixed sight and I have to admit they aren’t bad. Not cheapie after market ones. Would love to get antler but they are so expensive

Here are some I have on my NAA
