Meh, shoving it in the hole MAKES it the right size. Just like it does for a round ball.

It must be pretty close I don't think the first two ribs even peel any off. They just get it aligned if I remember right. Be sure to cast them out of pure lead.

As long as they have to press in, it's all good. I just don't want to end up with a .440 diameter,which would just call into the .453 cylinder bore. Looks like I might just get me one of these. I appreciate it. Way back in the forum there was a lot of good talk about the REAL bullets. I think I'll give them a go.

Yes, they can be loaded with the ram on the gun. No problem at all.

This is the one I use in my ROA and I have never had a problem loading it. I bought mine about 30 years ago and at that time they were advertised as being the right size for the Old Army. Lee also sold a 200 grain hollow point mold back then.

I reshaped the grip frame, made custom grips from black walnut, and cut and crowned the barrel to 5 1/2 inches. I love the ROA now. Feels way less big and awkward in my hand and more usable as a sidearm to me... Just thought I would show it off...lol.. ruger.jpg
 
I handmade a 10oz leather holster for my ROA... The dyed color didn't come out too good but gun fits awesome and its very strong. I saddle stitched it and put belt loop at about 25 degrees for cross draw..I put 12 rounds through it today also and it shot some nice groups at about 50'. My main purpose is self defense so thats as far as I tried it.. ruger holster.jpg
 
I know its not a ROA but here is my finished Colt that I am auctioning on gun broker. I made beautifully figured black walnut grips, box, holster, nipple wrench.. Shoots and feels awesome in the hand. Very accurate.. colt39.jpg
 
If your ROA has an ill fitting or just needs a new pawl, it can be done!

These are cold forged and heat treated!

So I’ve had my ROA since 1997, and upon doing some research I’m learning the fixed sight models are a little more valuable? I was surprised to learn that. When I bought mine I didn’t know a ton about them, I just bought the one bass pro had at the time. Shoots great!
 
I cut & crowned my ROA a second time now, down to 4" (7.5 to 5.5 and now 4..lol.).. I use it for self defense in the field and at home... I made two holsters now from 10oz veg tanned leather. One I built for cross draw (belt loop at a moderate angle) but I prefer to carry it on the right. I like the slightly cocked back way it sits for comfort and ease of draw.. I also built a holster I call the mini skirt...lol.. My thought was to carry the ROA high and tight to the body for hiking, fishing , etc but the damn Ruger is still pretty heavy and still tends to pull away from my body. Thinking about other holster designs to give it more support so it stays high and tight..lol.. Maybe even a holster thats almost horizontal, just enough to keep from falling out..hmmmm....lol.. Im getting faster and better the more I work on this stuff... Oh yeah I made a "Pine Box" for my ROA also. Been playing with a little band saw I got...lol.. Will post shooting results soon...lol.. Going to wet form full holster the same as the mini skirt.. Wish I had a vertical mill, I would be milling down the top strap, removing adjustable sight and allowing small front sight blade.. But oh well its awesome anyway..lol

Supply and demand effect: Frontiersman and Duelist categories in SASS cowboy action shooting do not permit percussion revolvers with adjustable sights. You will see mostly fixed sight ROAs at cowboy action matches.
