Today went with old buddy for an entire day at the Merlin Oregon Range. My Noveske 5.56 10" braced Diplomat is still my go to fighting tool with in 200 or so yards as it has a Colt/ Cmore red dot . The Ruger Charger 9mm was sighted in with the Votex Spitfire, which is perfect at 50 yards and a lot of fun with my Dillon cranked out lead bullets load at that range. Lead RN 124 grain 6 gang mold with 1000 fps load .
The star of the show was the new to me LWRC 6.8 SPC2 piston driven 16 " carbine with Remington 110 ammo and Gen Three Magpul 6.8 Mags. I put an Aimpoint M2 I had banging around because my 1-8 Vortex mount hadn't yet arrived to Mount. I'll keep the Aimpoint which is sighted in , as a back up ,but want the 1-8 Strike Eagle on the 6.8 spc in case it goes hunting. I sighted the 6.8 in at 50 yards , as I do all Ar formats and bench test at 200 yards. It did 8 +- " at 200 but has a 4 moa red dot, so that should work for deer or pigs. Soon to be suppressed ! Everything about the rifle seems perfect, crisp 4.5 # trigger, good reset one hole accuracy at 50 yards off bags, 100 percent function, smooth , not Blasty at all considering, EXCELLENT Iron sights, probably the best I've seen. I paid under $2000 for this rifle with an extra LWRC 5.56 piston upper . A good deal at the end of last crazy year ! I also bought 200 rounds of Remington 6.8 then at $.93 per IMG_20210827_141125168_PORTRAIT.jpg IMG_20210827_141110396_PORTRAIT.jpg shot.

Looks to be very capable I’m glad you are enjoying it my brother has a 6.8 spc and he enjoys it! I never warmed up to it but he has

The recoil on the 6.8 surprised me. I believe the piston action bar drive does soak up quite a bit ! I am impressed by this gat alot. I have not shot the 5.56 upper on it yet. It is identical in configuration. Handy if I was to run out of 6.8 ammo, I have ten Magpul 6.8 Magazines. But I don't think I 'll run out of 5.56 in my life time :)
The 6.8 packs alot more horse power than a 5.56 gauging by the down range impacts. And not a lumbering behemoth like my son's .458 Socom, this thing breathes normal 300 yard or less deer and pig hunting. I don't have a five round mag for that purpose yet. I think a 125 grain range bullet should work well. Maybe even regular old fashion .270 Winchester 130 grain bullets will work good on medium bears like we got in Oregon. I got a bunch of old Hornady Spire Point 130 grain bullets from loading .270 Winchester in late 70s :) . I changed to .308 only about then. If the flat base Hornadys are short enough , which I think they are , I should get 2400 FPS at the 16" muzzle easily and probably expand those old Spire Points. They had a reputation for blowing up at the 3000+ .270 Winchester level. 2400fps and lower should be about right :}

That style of iron sights is very appealing. A friend's sights on his home-built AR look identical. Very cool.

I've never owned a scope, for any of the twenty or so rifles. Waiting for the eyes to go downhill (age 66).

The fact that you have a piston-operated version gives it something in common with my very different rifles, about which I'll be silent. Pistons are interesting. Is it time for my Ice Cream ?

Well I use a diect impigement as my primary. I currently use direct impingement AR10s after having used M14 AK and FNFAL' and HK altho no gas involved, types for years. This was a cheap deal and I've heard good things about the quality and I know Paul L-W by way of his recent DI bolt redesign work. The recoil is very light on this gun and it has a weird smoothness of operation. I view it as a hunting weapon and with all the add on stuff available one that is quite remarkable. Besides I could not pass up the deal, nobody bid over $2000 as the didn't notice it had TWO uppers included !
