The storm approaches, under a state of emergency

George... A rational person would be doing just that.
The Army taught me the Rule Of P.
Prior Planning Prevents Pretty Poor Performance.
HMMMM, I seem to remember that the first P stood for something else........:D

I saw somewhere that Florida residents are being cautioned not to shoot at the hurricane.

Cautioned by whom was the question that immediately came to mind.

I think we'd have to have naval artillery to reach him now...

One of the stories about the state of emergency stated that you were not allowed to carry/possess a firearm on tour person or vehicle during the state of emergency.

Anyone know if that's true?

IIRC, it is the opposite; that in a state of emergency when the threat level is high (as in a hurricane) that you were; but I am not 100% positive.

A minor follow-up that unfortunately doesn't make anything any clearer.

During the "state of emergency" brought on by Hurricane Dorian I stopped by four firearms/ammunition dealers in Gainesville, FL. Rural King and Wal Mart were not selling either because of said emergency. Bass Pro and a local dealer M&C Army Surplus were both selling. Last Saturday (after the state of emergency had passed) I was in Rural King again and saw they were once more selling guns so I asked him about their not selling earlier in the week. The man working said it turned out only their corporate stores were supposed to not sell guns and ammo, but that the franchise stores could have (but hadn't).

The five days or so the state of emergency lasted could do some real damage to a business who depended on the revenue such sales bring for a large part of their business income. It seems to me this is a question that needs a clear and definitive answer.

Does anyone know if there is some sort of trade organization who might undertake spearheading this?

Since 1 September, here in Texas, during a declared state of emergency, an LTC is not required, and 30.07 & 30.06 signs are invalid for locations used or needed by persons affected by that disaster declaration. And good for seven days after the expiry of the declaration.
Other states differ.
