The THR 1851/1860 Club

This one's been through an Indian War or two. She's getting a conversion cylinder later this summer. She's still tight, for an old bird. (Uberti)

You guys need to tell me whether you're already a member of want to join our club. The list is getting a little too long for me to keep looking through it to find a name.

Sweet '51 Navy, Outlaw!!!

If you're on a desktop or laptop, Crawdad1, you can pull up the list and hit Ctrl+5 (for PC, Cmd+F for Mac) and start typing. It'll highlight the name if it's already there.

IMG_20150227_135340_kindlephoto-76982686.jpg Sending off my circa 1982 ASM 1860 to the Goon! Seen here with its little brah, an Uberti '62 Police, this Armi San Marco has been a workhorse for 30+ years...must have been one the "good" ASM's.

Mike was extremely gracious, and responded to my email with a thirty minute phone call--on Saturday morning! It was like having the phone ring and having THR on line 2! Talk about service...

Mike says it will receive his latest magic, including his brand new torsion spring treatment and packing the frame to keep crud out of the internals. It will be the first ASM to get this treatment. I'm stoked! Thanks, Mike!

PS, will it be back by Chrstmas? It would look great under the tree!

Thanks, Crawdad! The ASM '60 has put in 30 years of good service, with solid timing, lockup and reliability...can't wait to see it Goonerized! The little Police is a sweetheart, too, but it's been a bear to get it to reliably pop caps...doesn't seem to like any combo of Rem or CCI 10's or 11's...thinking time for Treso's...

No pics, but a pair of Pietta steel framed .44's, one 7", one 4". I want an 1860, and an 1872 open top.

Crawdad1

Still a member of the THR 1851/1860 Club and have a new addition to the family: a Pietta Colt Model 1860 that my lovely wife got me for Christmas! Their both real beauties too!

Not only is she pretty to the eye with some very nice metal polishing and bluing along with sweet color case hardening, the action and trigger are smooth as silk, as though it had already been tuned by a gunsmith!

I looked at the Cabela's website yesterday and saw nearly every C&B revolver at $50 off across the board. Are they getting out of the business and selling out?

I would be interested in the Pietta 1851 Navy .36 to serve as a basis for a Dance Bros. .36 at $200.

I did not place my order because I have other things on my plate.

@ $200 my machinist neighbor could mill off the recoil shields. I will struggle to do the case colors, and that will be another project.

I doubt that Pietta will ever produce another Dance .36. Read the post #7 from bprevolver (Dr. Jim L. Davis) from a while back.

https://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=522378

I don't want a .44 Dance. I want a Pietta based .36 Dance to match my other Piettas with parts interchageability.

It is called mix and match just for combinations, fantasy or not.

Expat_Alaska - fella over at the firing line forums seems to think that $50 off deal is Cabela's way of getting rid of their returns.
Says stock is limited. I still "need" a steel frame .36 cal 1851 but am on vacation for 25 days (10 are paid) and don't want to needlessly spend money.

If there is any way you can get it on a CC or other, a $200 Pietta 1851 .36 steel is a good deal these days. If it is a bad gun I'll bet Cabela's will take it back.

If needlessly spending money means you are like me and countless others addicted to replicas, count yourself into the club, sir!

I don't think Cabela's will be doing this much longer given that BPS is probably holding the reins these days.

Good luck to you!

Jim
