Pix for previous post, got an error...Aaaand another couple pics, with a family portrait, 1847 big brother, ASM 1860 with silver grip frame in the middle, and runt Uberti Police bringing up the rear...Unlike Goldilocks, I think they're all "just right"!

Welcome Brad, nice Walker - it looks almost as big as the lovely Vicky. Nice wood too, be sure to post a pic when you refinish the grip. I would encourage you to send the Walker to Mike Brackett at Goons Gunworks to have the action worked over. Even though these are nice out of the box there are often arbor length, spring tension, and timing problems.

I need help identify the maker of this Walker. The cylinder notches is round not oval and the engraving is different than Uberti, it appeal to be more clean. The barrel wedge can be remove by hand unlike my Uberti made Dragoon that I had to use mallet to remove the wedge.

Looks like an early Armi San Marco from the 1960's with round notches, long trigger, thick trigger guard and round tipped loading lever. Did you check on the bottom of the barrel underneath the loading lever for any markings?

I have a silly question - what size caps should I use on my Uberti Walker, 10 or 11? Good chance I don't have the right ones.....

[/URL][/IMG The markings under the barrel are the same as the one on the right side of the frame except there is no XXVIII marking under the barrel. I am wonder about the nipples size and cylinder ,are they the same as Uberti?

sandy4570, the XVIII is a date code meaning it was manufactured in 1962. The other markings are Italian proofmarks. If the barrel does not have anything else on it then I can't say for sure who made it but I would still think it Armi San Marcos. I don't think anybody else was making Walker's at that time but I'm not actually 100% certain. If it's not Armi San Marco it could be Palmetto or Uberti. Maybe somebody else knows when those guys started making Walker's? Sorry I don't know if the nipples or cylinder are the same as Uberti.

Do the screws that attach the grip to the frame stand proud of the back strap? That is usually an indication of the ASM horse pistols. But LonesomePigeon has it correct, in that time frame, the only Italian firm making the Walker or Dragoon was ASM.

Thank for the info. I manage to compare the Uberti cylinder , this Walker cylinder will fit Uberti frame but not vice versa. I saw a few pictures of ASM and they don't look like this so I assume this one must be very early version .How much this one worth consider it is very early ?

screws don't stand out of the frame .I saw a few pictures of Replica Arms Inc. Walker and Dragoon with screws stand pround of back strap but they usually have Replica arms marking on the left side flat of the barrel. May be the original owner scrubbed /defab the importer marking off this revolver ?

sandy4570, if it's used I don't think it's going to be worth much more than any other used Walker in the same condition, so $250 to maybe $350. If it's new in the box it could be worth $400 or significantly more, I'm not really sure. I would suggest checking gunbroker.com and seeing what similar ones are going for.

Thank you very much for helpful information. The price on Gun Broker are pretty much in $300 to $350 range . I am not worry too much about the resale value but spare parts considering this is old discontinued Walker and all . I guess I just going to take her out and make lot of noise and smoke .

ASM Walker wedge

Is there any where that I can get the specs for a wedge for an ASM Walker? Mine is starting to get a bit loose to the point I might stop shooting it.

Squire,
If you'll install a set screw in the end of the arbor (for the wedge to fit against, not to stick out past the end of the arbor), you can use the wedge you have for the rest of the guns life!

Mike's flattened set screw along with having the arbor length perfect will make your gun better than ever.
He uses a 1/4 28 on "belt pistols" but I think the next size up for "horse pistols"

ok I think I get that. I have no tools to do that but I know a guy who does.

I didn't want to use the old wedge as a pattern as it is a bit worn but I guess it would do.

I have bought several wedges over time and none of them were "drop in". They were all too thick, the width was ok as I was needing to make up for old age, but with Mike's screw adjustment all that is needed is to clean up the too loose wedge then adjust.

I've got my Armi San Marco and Uberti walkers with my .31 Remmy thrown in for size comparison. I've got a 3rd model Dragoon off with Mike getting Goonerized too. Eventually Ill get the walkers off to Mike too.
