Anybody have equipment that previously was disallowed from IDPA competition that is now legal?

There was much wailing & gnashing of teeth when the rules came out, some of which I followed. The guys I had sympathy for were those that owned the moon-clip .45ACP gamey revolvers. They went from being at the top of the equipment heap to also-ran in their division. That's a several hundred dollar "ouch."

On a more happy note, several of my custom holsters are now good-to-go according to the rulebook. Also, some holsters from smaller non-custom houses are legal.

My Uncle Mikes plastic fantastic has been banished to the Outer Darkness, however. I don't feel too bad, though, since it was used only for IDPA & other fun-gun purposes. I can't ever see myself wearing it for any other purpose, since it is a p--s poor concelament holster. Might as well strap a bread box to your belt.

Upside: In excess of $200 worth of holsterage is now blessed
Downside: My $20 POS UM tupperware is verboten

Being one of those guys, I wasn't really convinced the 8-shot 357's were gonna be at much of an advantage, myself (having shot both); but in the final/final/final revision (??), the old load-six rule is back, in both SSR and ESR--so the 45acp 4" 625 is still king of the hill in its division (though the .40 610 has and has had its advocates).

To your question, I think the explicit statement that you can modify equipment to MAKE it legal will have the biggest effect on folks whose gear was heretofore no-go.

...if my body not had been deemed illegal.

I lost four holsters with the new rules, I could have gained one if my body not had been deemed illegal.:(

What I can't figure out is why IDPA won't let ankle holsters be used in the match. I've heard every excuse, but the facts are that ankle holsters are used by many CCW people. I don't care if the draw is slower than pulling a pistol from a belt holster, I carry using an ankle holster which fits my situation. Why in the world can't I shoot IDPA matches using the equipment I use daily! :banghead:

Some of my stuff is now illegal (like Mr. Kelly, mostly because I don't have an IDPA compliant body). None of my stuff that was previously banned would now be considered legal.

It matters not anymore.

Stay safe,

Reading all of the IDPA happenings remind me why the shooting club I was with in 1999 dumped IDPA after a short trial to go back to USPSA. And these people were good shooters no matter what you called the sport. I truly hope IDPA gets things sorted out so everyone can get back to the fun of shooting and put away the tapemeasures, heatguns, and scales for awhile.
