Saw a very nice winchester model 12 today for about $400. It was a 16 gage with vent rib made in the mid 50's. looks like new other than the light rubs on magazine tube.

What do you guys think? I really do not need it but its purty.

The model 12 is IMO the best pump shotgun that's been made. Action is slick and makes the Remington 870 feel 2nd class and Mosbergs feel like they're full of gravel after shooting the m12 Winchester. The 16 ga makes a great Dove, Pheasant and upland game gun.

If you buy it you will not regret it.

+100.
Grab a mod 12 and never look back. I love using my mod 12 for quail. It's as smooth as greased butter. Love the takedown feature as well.

I love posts like this :) come to a shotgun forum, then ask if you should buy a shotgun haha. I did the same thing, it was a great way to get some reaffirmation! I'll hop on board with the rest - BUY it!

Buy the M12, 16 gauge - I have a couple, but I warn you - you will forsake your 12 gauge shotguns for anything other than steel shot and turkeys.

Winchester Model 12 and the Ithaca 37 are history makers! Give me one of each... :)

Those two Model 12's are gorgeous!!

I have a 16ga Model 12 plain jane...I've hunted with it since I 84. I have 10 other shotguns to go along with it, but she's still the one I always pull out.

My stinking brother has 8 Model 12's....all 12's but he won't share with me. :(

16 ga

You found a 16 gauge Model 12 Winchester with an original vent rib for $400 and are asking us whether or not to buy it! I've never seen an original one in with a vent or solid rib for less than a grand. Tom
