Yup, at half that price, it would be interesting, but not at $100. That'll buy a blackpowder pistol kit or make a dent in some other inexpensive gun like a Mak or a Star.

For that money, you can get a gas-operated Airsoft gun that is a near-exact replica of your carry gun. "Parlor pistols" were used for indoor practice when one couldn't go outdoors to shoot your real gun. Airsoft guns are the modern equivalent, but can be had in one that looks, feels, and handles just like your real carry gun.

Or you can load Speer's plastic bullets, or X-Ring's rubber bullets, in your real pistol/revolver, and shoot your own firearms with primer only.

For more like $15 bucks.

Interesting device...

I also wonder what "surprisingly high velocites" are.

I would like to play with one. I don't think I will be buying one; not because of the price, but I seriously doubt that youw would be able to hit anything with it. And only accurate guns are interesting. Assuming you couldn't hit anything with it, I would fire a couple BBs, say that was fun and never touch it again.
I would bet the velocity would be surprising.
