Okay all you AR-15 fans...a few questions please...:)

Is a threaded barrel less accurate than an ordinary crowned barrel (I suspect this is the case)? If so, is this difference significant?

Does a flash hider increase how loud the weapon is to the user? Is it quieter? I've searched some old posts here and they seem mostly concerned with flash suppressors' effect on recoil, but not on muzzle blast.

Is a crowned barrel without a flash hider more vulnerable to wear and tear than a threaded barrel WITH a flash hider?

Can you really use an AR-15 to bayonet things? ;)

===============================

The reason I ask is that, ironically, I might want to get an AR-15 BEFORE the AWB sunsets. If the crowned barrel is more accurate, and the bayonet lug is essentially useless, and the flash suppressor makes the weapon significantly louder, a post-ban AR-15 might serve me better than a pre-ban/post-sunset one. Any thoughts?

Ok, My opinion. Yes a threaded barrel with a FS is gonna be slightly less accurate than a crowned barrel. Will 99% of the people shooting it be able to tell? No.

A muzzle brake will make an AR louder. I don't think you will tell a difference with a FS and Naked barrel. All AR's without a Sound suppressor are loud.

Anytime a crown is exposed it is more vulnerable.

With a 20" AR15 yep you can poke stuff with a bayonete.
With a 16" m4 I think its mainly cosmetic. I don't have a lug on my M4 but the military uses 14.5" barrels to make the Bayo work so with a 16" I don't know how it would fit.

An AR without a FS makes a BIG flash. If you are gonna be shooting any at dusk or dawn you'll sure see it. I'm gonna do it just because I can.

No. Both barrels are crowned. The threading does not touch the rifling. A clean exit for the bullet is one of the keys to accuracy.

Not when compared to a muzzle brake. A muzzle brake is louder because it redirects the gases/noise back towards the shooter to dampen the recoil. Most flash hiders do not.

Yes and no. Yes from damage from objects. No when it comes to soldiers cleaning them. I'm seen many a soldier stick a cleaning patch on the blunt end of a cleaning rod inside a flashhider and swirl it around to remove carbon stuck in there while preparing for an inspection.

With the standard 20" you can definitely do some damage. I prefer the older series bayonnet compared to the new. As stated before, sticking it on a 16" is kinda silly.

It reminds me of then I went through ASP training. All that was available at the local LE supply was the short models. Everyone else at class had the longer models. It's wasn't fun at all. :D
