Hello -

I am looking for information from you guys who have experience handloading for 6.5X55SE.

I have been prepping brass this week and I am ready to start priming cases. I have a Tikka so I should be able to load to normal pressures. I would like to develope a deer hunting load and a longer range load to see what this rifle is capable of.

I have Hornady Interlock and Hornady SST bullets in 129gr and Barnes TTSX at 120gr. I have RL22, IMR4350, H4350, H4895, and H4831SC powders, but I am willing to purchase other components if they are available in my area.

So, there must be a couple of you guys out there that have a favorite 6.5X55SE load for a modern action. Can you help give me a jumpstart?

I also have a Tikka T3, a Hunter. I developed a load using RL19, of 45.1 grains, using Sierra 140 grain Gamekings. I also have a load for my Swedish m/96, of 45.2 grains of RL22 and 140 grain Sierra MKs. Sorry for not having any loads for lighter bullets.

Can't go wrong with IMR-4350.

I shot a Rem Classic chambered for the Swede for a few seasons. Tried 120gr Barnes and the 120gr Speer HotCor. Both shot well and both took deer, but after shooting the Speer I decided a premium bullet wasn't necessary for a 200 lb whitetail. IMR-4350 works well as does R-19.

I bought a 6.5Creedmoor in the hopes it would quiet the voices in my head telling me to buy a 6.5swede. I like the creedmoor but the voices are still there and now they're accusing me of stalling. Some of the things they say in swedish sound pretty harsh just based on tone of voice since I don't speak swedish.

Funny. I keep hearing the ghost of John Browning telling me "you should have waited for the XBolt Stainless Stalker in 6.5 CR..... "

Really scary.

I may need to find some 140gr Gamekings and try different bullets in the 120 to 140 range. I have shot Wolf and Federal ammunition and I am collecting brass.

H4340 for 120 - 130 bullets. Max 47 grns on the 120 and 45.5 on the 130. 45.5 has always worked well for me

Reloader 22 for the 140 bullets - 48 max grns

On bullets ,

my CZ550 has a twist of 8.6:1 your Sako is 8:1

I can stabilise 120gr Sierra ProHunters, 130gr Accubonds and 140gr SGK all with ease. All are almost identical in accuracy but the 140gr. SGK were marginally better. With a 24" barrel I have modelled in QL 130gr Accubonds vs. 140gr Accubonds and to stay on the top safest accuracy node the 140gr. is the better performer.

I really struggled with the 129gr Interlocks cant tell you why as the 130gr Accubonds were great. Cant be a mass issue?

Thanks for the advice everyone.

I picked up 140grain Hndy SST's today. So I should have an interesting next few weeks seeing what this rifle likes.

I need to be ready for the range this weekend.
