Time to stock up on components again - Part 2

Be careful not to over do it. You just may not end up being able to shoot as much as you plan.
In retirement some people plan on lots of golf, fishing, etc. I planned on lots of shooting figured (hoped) for a good ten years. I'm 40% there and doing fine, knock on wood, If my health holds out, I'll replenish some of what I've shot so for to extend my shooting plans past the ten year mark.

If you over do it, you should see your investment pay off should the bad times return and at least break about even reselling in good times. Mine has certainly paid off based on what I paid for components vs. what they are selling for right now.

OTOH for 9mm I'm seeing $150/1000 rounds making reloading 9mm marginal at todays component prices. This is the situation where I stockpiled my supplies, shot the cheap ammo and bought components to set aside for the future, which was nice as when I was working I didn't have a lot of spare time to do reloading. Seeing how fast my days fly by now that I've been retired, I wonder how I ever managed to get anything done while I was working :)

I'd love to stock up on Federal SR Match primers, but I can't find them online. Happened to be in a Cabelas in Wisconsin and they had plenty. I was going to by two bricks and ship them home, but didn't have the time.

I am buying AR lowers as well to stock up. I have quite a bit of powder and probably around 15,000 sm pistol primers and 7000 sm rifle primers stocked up. I dont shoot much 500-700 rounds per month and yet I still feel like I need to have more! Do we ever have enough? I have 8lb full jugs of varget and cfe 223 about 7.5 pounds left of bullseye (enough to make 11,000 rounds of .45 ACP) and 4 -5 1 lb. cans of various poweders like Unique, CFE BLK, H335. and at least 1000 rounds of brass for each caliber I shoot and probably 3000 rounds for .45 ACP.

11,000 rounds is only 18 months supply if you split the difference and use an average of 600 rounds a month.

That shows that a "huge" figure like 11k that the news would go nuts over really isn't really as big as it sounds when you look at it from a perspective of how much you shoot.
