At home, posting on THR instead of working.
Especially those who use canes from www.canemasters.com.

I was looking at their bewildering selection of canes and without a full body picture of the cane, find it difficult to make an appropriate choice for self defence.

Can anyone out there give me any advice on the most appropriate cane for striking applications? Also, whilst I know that full dimension canes have more strength than shaped shaft canes, can the latter still parry full force basenball or crowbar blows?

For a primarily striking based style of cane combat, which would be better:

DIAMOND SHAFT SERRATED EDGE CANE or OCTAGON/QUAD GRIP CANE?

For striking applications?

Probably the strongest stick you can find. Hickory heart is good.
Blackwood is okay as well.

Pick a cane with a wood known to be dense and harder than others.

My canemasters is hickory heart. Much heavier than the walnut cane that I use for practice but I wouldn't want to get hit with either.

As long as you are parrying I don't think it matters. Full blocking blows with a cane against a bat probably will result in a broken cane or head, maybe both.

No sense in carrying a cane without the training to use it effectively.
